Multi-Skilled Maintenance engineer

Our client is a complex manufacturer of high-quality commercial and residential flooring. The manufacturing processes include polyamide yarn cutting, dyeing, drying, electrostatic flocking, rotary and digital printing, backing application and final cutting/conversion. Therefore experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment or similar is essential.

You will be responsible for working within a team to reduce reactive work (breakdowns, repairs) and increase proactive work (continuous improvement) to achieve business targets. This includes ensuring the safe operation of machinery, improving site facilities across a broad scope (buildings, offices, production lines, warehouse).

Job specification

• Carry out preventative and planned maintenance schedule.


• Reactive breakdown repairs.


• Start-up plant ready for production each day.


• Work on continuous improvement projects.


• Carries out vibration analysis.


• Carries out root cause analysis.


• Carries out calibration.


• Maintain CMMS system, SOI’s and Engineering library.


• Support all relevant management standards such as ISO 9001, environmental standards.


• Maintain clear processes and good housekeeping through application of 5S.

Personal specification

• Experience working in a process-oriented environment.


• Root cause analysis and fault finding experience.


• CI and proactive approach to working.


• Good communication and interpersonal skills.


• Conversant with Microsoft and computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Shift patterns are 06.00-14.15, 14.00-22:15 (18.15 on a Friday), 22.00 - 06.15.

Pre-authorised overtime is paid at time and a half for any hours worked on Monday to Saturday inclusive, outside the standard weekly working hours of 40p/w, and at double time for any hours worked on Sunday.
