This is an opportunity for an engineering role for someone who is looking to enter the food manufacturing industry. You will be trained to be responsible for, calibrating, maintaining, and installing equipment such as slicers, check weighers and mincers. This will lead to a very varied role which will give you the opportunity to learn and develop your engineering skills. Your role will be key to the business and the region that you will work in.
This role would suit someone with either electrical OR mechanical experience and has the desire to move into a new fast-paced role. A good attitude and desire to learn and develop are both key for our clients.
Our client will consider trainee engineers with at least 1 year's worth of experience.
Our client has a global footprint and as an integral part of the team you will be operating in food factory environments as well as major supermarkets and food produce operations. This role provides full product training and the time to understand the nature of their operation.
There are also plenty of opportunities to progress within the business if this is important to you. Over the last few years, engineers have progressed to senior engineer and manager levels.
We cannot stress enough how much the business values their engineers and the role offers both the training and support required daily to ensure that the successful applicant is both happy and successful during their time at work.
This is a permanent position, working 40 hours per week, primarily between 8:30 am - 5:30 pm ( any hours after will be paid time and a third). There are no call-out requirements and NO requirements for weekend work.
Milton Keynes, Midlands and London are the regions that are to be covered. There will be a requirement to work 2 days per week from Milton Keynes. You will be provided with a vehicle, phone and additional overtime opportunities.
Job Specification
- Service and install a range of equipment including mincers, splicers, check weighers and other related equipment.
- Investigating complex technical issues such as electrical/ mechanical breakdowns & network-related issues.
- Demonstrating good working knowledge of either electrical or mechanical principles.
- Attend, at short notice where needed to support customers and team members.
- Provide technical data/documents that support the wider business.
- To manage & maintain effective stock levels of parts needed to carry out repairs.
- Project a professional image of the department and company to both internal and external customers.
- Maintain company vehicle in a clean and organised fashion ensuring all maintenance requirements are met in accordance with the policy for company vehicle drivers.
- Maintain in good order all company tools, such as Hand tools, ladders, Laptops etc.
- Attend all training courses required to ensure knowledge of equipment both electrical and mechanical.
- Adhere to policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety and Quality Management.
- Maintain Calibrated weighs & ensure they are compliant.
- When calibrating/ verifying equipment, all legal standards are met & work is carried out to the Highest standard.
- When required write detailed reports on incidents/calls to assist the Line manager.
- Have a full & legally Valid UK driving licence.
- Work to company KPI's & SLA's.
Personal Specification
- Experience with the food industry is advantageous.
- Have qualifications or equivalent preferably within Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
- Dedicated to own personal development.
- Works well within a team and contributes to benefit the team.
- Full clean driver's licence.
- Mechanically or electrically competent to a high standard.
- Able to work under highly pressurised situations.
- Flexibility, prioritising, planning and monitoring own activity, performance and progress.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
